English Translation
God is Great
In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Praise be to God, the Lord of the Universe, theCompassionate, the Merciful, Sovereign of the Day of Judgment! You alone we worship, and to You alone we turn for help. Guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom You have favored, not of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor o those who have gone astray.
God is Great
Allah, we ask You to raise the rank of Muhammad, and have mercy upon the Al (wives, Muslim kin, and pious Muslim followers) of Muhammad, as You raised the rank of Ibrahim, and the Al of Ibrahim. Verily, You are the One Who deserves to be praised and thanked, and the One Who is glorified. 0 Allah, we ask You to bless Muhammad, and the Al of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim, and the Al of Ibrahim. Verily, You are the One Who deserves to be praised and thanked, and the One Who is glorified.
God is Great
"O Allah, grant forgiveness to our living and to our dead, and to those who are present and to those who are absent, and to our young and our old folk, and to our males and our females. O Allah, whomsoever you grant to live, from among us, help him to live in Islam and whomsoever of us you cause to die, help him to die in faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of the reward for patience on his (her, their) loss and do not make us subject to trial after him."
God is Great
May The Peace (from God) be upon you
Notes:
The prayer is said silently while standing. There is no rukoo and no sajood. Follow the Imam's lead.
There are variations that are specific to gender or age. For example: for a baby, you make Dua for its parents rather than the baby itself, (if the salat is said at all.) For a lady the prayer is said to ask that "she" instead of "he."
Please consult a scholar or Imam in your area for a better explanation.
There are several dua that are appropriate when making Salat- ul Janazah. If you have not yet memorized any other dua, such as dua al mayyat above, but you know the following, you may say it for the third portion of the prayer:
رَبَّنَا اتِنَا فِى الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِى
اْلاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّار
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمينَ
Rabbana atina fi`d-dunya hasanatan wa fi`l-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaba`n-nar birahmatika ya arhama`r-rahimin
Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of the fire. We seek Thy blessings, Thou art the most Merciful. If you know no arabic prayer, then you may make Dua in your own language, that the deceased as well as the living are granted mercy and their sins forgiven. Allah is the most merciful and compassionate.

This page is not all encompassing.
http://static.websimages.com/Images/Smilies/Round/exclamation.gifThe Janazah prayer mentioned above is general, and it applies to the majority of  Salat-ul Janazah, but please keep in mind there are variations, due gender, condition, and age.

Please explain to us how the funeral prayer is to be offered, as reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), because many people do not know about it.
Published Date: 2001-01-26
Praise be to Allaah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them) explained how the funeral prayer is to be done. It is done as follows:
You say the first Takbeer (“Allaahu akbar”), then you seek refuge with Allaah from the accursed Shaytaan, then you say Bismillah ir-Rahmaan ir-Raheem and recite al-Faatihah followed by a shortsoorah or some aayahs. Then you say 2nd  Takbeer  (“Allaahu akbar”),  and send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) as one does at the end of the prayer. Then you say a third Takbeer  (“Allaahu akbar”),  and make below  du’aa’ for the deceased. 4th takbilr just say   (“Allaahu akbar”),  than salam both site while standing.

3rd takbir duas
Allaahumma ighfir lihaayina wa mayitina wa shaahidina wa ghaa’ibina wa sagheerina wa kabeerina wa dhakarina wa unthaana. Allaahumma man ahyaytahu minna fa ahyihi ‘ala’l-Islam wa man tawaffaytahu minna fa tawiffahu ‘ala’l-eemaan.

(O Allaah, forgive our living and our dead, those who are present among us and those who are absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allaah, whoever You keep alive, keep him alive in Islam, and whoever You cause to die, cause him to die with faith. O Allaah, forgive him and have mercy on him, keep him safe and sound and forgive him, honour the place where he settles and make his entrance wide; wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him of sin as a white garment is cleansed of dirt. O Allaah, give him a house better than his house and a family better than his family. O Allaah, admit him to Paradise and protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of Hell-fire; make his grave spacious and fill it with light. O Allaah, do not deprive us of the reward and do not cause us to go astray after this).”
All of this was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). If you make du’aa’ with other words, this is OK, for example, you could say, “Allaahumma in kaana muhsinan fa zid fi ihsaanihi wa in kaana musee’an fa tajaawaz ‘an sayi’aatihi. Allaahumma ighfir lahu wa thabbit-hu bi’l-qawl il-thaabit  (O Allaah, if he was a doer of good, then increase his good deeds, and if he was a wrongdoer, then overlook his bad deeds. O Allaah, forgive him and give him the strength to say the right thing).” Then you say a fourth Takbeer and pause for a little while, then you say one Tasleem to the right, saying “Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmat-Allaah.”
